Understanding how CBD can improve your sleep

Sleep is essential for our health and well-being, but many people suffer from insomnia or difficulty getting restful sleep. CBD, thanks to its relaxing properties, is increasingly used as a natural solution to promote better sleep. In this article, we explore how CBD works, the forms in which it is available in our shop, and how to easily incorporate it into your nighttime routine.

Why sleep is important for your health

The consequences of sleep deprivation:

Insufficient or poor-quality sleep can cause fatigue, irritability, lack of concentration, and weaken the immune system. In the long term, it can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or mood disorders.

How stress and anxiety disrupt sleep:

Stress and anxiety are two major contributing factors to insomnia. The brain remains active, making it difficult to fall asleep and reducing sleep quality. CBD can help calm the nervous system and prepare the body for more restful sleep.

CBD and sleep: how it works

The role of the endocannabinoid system:

CBD acts on the endocannabinoid system, which regulates many processes in the body, including sleep, mood, and stress management. It can therefore help restore balance and promote deeper sleep.

The relaxing effects and the entourage effect:

CBD has relaxing properties that help reduce anxiety, muscle tension, and promote a sense of calm conducive to falling asleep.

Some products contain a small amount of THC (<1%). This contributes to the entourage effect, where CBD and other cannabinoids work together to enhance their effects, thus offering a more complete and harmonious experience, regardless of the type of product (oils, flowers, etc.).

CBD products suitable for improving sleep

At Aifé, several products are available to support sleep and well-being:

  • CBD oils: available in full spectrum (containing all cannabinoids, including <1% THC) or broad spectrum (all cannabinoids except THC). Full spectrum products allow you to benefit from the entourage effect, where the different cannabinoids and terpenes act synergistically to enhance their effects.

  • CBD capsules and pearls: practical, discreet and easy to integrate into a daily routine, they are available in full spectrum or broad spectrum depending on your needs.

  • Mushi Relax and Sleep: formulations specifically designed to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality.

CBD is present in all our products and can contribute to more restful sleep and overall well-being, while easily fitting into your daily routine. All you have to do is determine which product best suits your needs.

CBD and sleep in practice

Sleep types and the role of CBD:

Sleep consists of several phases: light, deep and paradoxical (REM).

Some researchers, such as in this controlled study published in 2023, tested an oral formulation combining CBD and terpenes in people suffering from insomnia. The result: the treatment moderately increased the percentage of time spent in deep and REM sleep in some participants (up to approximately 48 more minutes of restorative sleep per night for some participants).

CBD could therefore promote deep sleep and reduce nighttime awakenings, thus improving the overall quality of rest.

Tips for optimizing sleep with CBD:

  • Create an evening routine: dim lighting, no screens before bedtime.

  • Combine CBD with relaxing practices: breathing, meditation or quiet reading.

  • Avoid stimulants in the evening: coffee, theine or sugar.

Testimonial: Getting back to restful sleep

Daniela, 32, had suffered from insomnia since childhood. She had tried everything, including heavy medication and even opioids, without lasting success. After incorporating full-spectrum CBD products into her routine, she gradually regained restful sleep and full nights of rest.

“I never thought I could sleep normally one day… CBD has really changed my life,” she says.

Quick FAQs

  • Will CBD make me high?

No, CBD has no psychoactive effect. THC, on the other hand, is the molecule responsible for the “high” of cannabis. Some products, such as full-spectrum oils, contain trace amounts of THC (less than 1%). This quantity is too small to produce a feeling of euphoria.
In fact, even in very small quantities, THC plays a beneficial role: it helps activate and enhance the action of other molecules in the plant, such as other cannabinoids and terpenes, thanks to what is known as the “entourage effect.” Thus, you fully benefit from the effects of CBD and other compounds without getting high.

  • Can I use CBD every night?

CBD can be incorporated regularly; it is recommended to start gradually and observe its effects, without replacing medical advice.
